Air Conditioning in Essex

F-Gas qualified installations from £1,800 across Essex and London

Air Conditioning Installs

Air conditioning installed by Green Plumbing and Heating costs between £1,800 and £3,000 for a typical single-room system, fitted by an F-Gas qualified, REFCOM registered engineer across Essex, London and Kent. We size the unit to the room, install the indoor head and outdoor condenser, run and pressure test the pipework, and commission the system. Most single-room installs are completed in a day.

Air conditioning has gone from a luxury to something people expect, and the modern inverter units do far more than cool a room. They heat efficiently too, which makes them a genuine option for a conservatory, a loft conversion or a home office that the central heating never quite reaches.

James added air conditioning to the business two years ago and holds the F-Gas qualification, with the company registered with REFCOM. That matters legally as well as practically: only a qualified engineer can handle refrigerant, and the paperwork is what protects your warranty.

We fit air conditioning across Chelmsford, Brentwood and into London as well as locally. Which unit is right depends on the room and the budget. Daikin and Mitsubishi sit at the top for build quality and quiet running. LG, Fujitsu and Samsung cover the mid range and represent good value. We measure the room, work out the load properly and recommend a size that will not be left straining on the hottest day.

The install covers the indoor head, the outdoor condenser, the interconnecting pipework and the condensate run. We pressure test and vacuum the pipework before charging the system, commission it, and show you how to run it so you are not paying to cool an empty house.

Frequently Asked Questions

Air Conditioning Installation Questions

What is the best air conditioning brand?

It depends on the budget. The best brands are Daikin and Mitsubishi, then the mid range of LG, Fujitsu, Samsung and others. We will talk you through what each one gives you for the money and size the unit properly for the room rather than selling you more than you need.

How much does air conditioning cost to install?

A typical single-room wall-mounted system runs between £1,800 and £3,000 supplied and fitted. The variables are the unit you choose, the size of the room and how far the pipework has to travel between the indoor head and the outdoor condenser.

Can air conditioning heat the room as well?

Yes. Modern inverter units are heat pumps, so they heat as well as cool and do it efficiently. That makes them a good answer for a conservatory, a loft conversion or a home office that the central heating struggles to reach, and it means the unit earns its keep all year.

Do I need planning permission for the outdoor unit?

For most houses the outdoor unit falls under permitted development, provided it is sited sensibly and is not on a listed building or in a conservation area. Flats and some conversions are different. We will flag it at the survey if we think you need to check with the council.

Does air conditioning need servicing?

Yes, once a year. Filters need cleaning, the refrigerant charge and the condensate drain need checking, and the outdoor coil needs clearing. It keeps the running cost down and the warranty intact. We keep reminders for air conditioning checks the same way we do for boilers.
